Nandita Gorlosa’s defection has triggered a reshuffle in the Congress’s candidate list for Assam elections as the party decided to field her from Haflong. 

 Haflong’s sitting MLA Nandita Garlosa was denied a ticket by the BJP, which fielded Rupali Langthasa from the seat after dropping several sitting legislators. 

 Justice Bhuyan said the past few years have seen a pattern of “reckless registration” of criminal cases by the State, often in trivial matters. 

 The drivers are demanding the introduction of customer KYC to reduce the incidents of attacks on drivers. 

 According to preliminary investigations, the toddy was allegedly spiked with a cocktail of sedative tablets, to increase its intoxicating effect.
