The strikes started Saturday morning with the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stunning both his supporters and detractors. Since then, military and strategic sites have faced round-the-clock attacks. The authorities have cut off internet access, severely hindering communication with the outside world. Despite these curbs, the BBC has spoken with some individuals. In order to maintain their anonymity, the individuals’ names have been altered. Hossein, residing in Karaj, a city located west of Tehran’s capital, claimed that a significant explosion occurred near his residence on Monday. He stated, “The impact in Karaj was so immense that it caused the house to tremble.” I heard the loud blast and I’m just trying to find somewhere safe. He mentioned that it occurred after a night of intense bombings. “I tallied 17 consecutive [explosions].”
