George appeared on a March 2026 episode of “Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place.” While on the show, he discussed artificial intelligence and revealed that he actually uses it to aid in the songwriting process for his new music. The 64-year-old said, “I’ve written like, five albums already with AI… AI is brilliant. Nothing to fear.”
The Culture Club frontman then said, “I say to everyone, if you get replaced by a robot, you weren’t trying hard enough… Obviously, I care about people losing their jobs… But there’s so many great things.” He then named his song “I Am Iran” as an example, since it is written in Persian, a language George does not speak.
According to him, “Obviously I don’t sing in Persian… I don’t write as a Persian because obviously I’m not, so I write in a way that’s very British, and it translates so interestingly into Persian.”

The “Karma Chameleon” singer stated, “I have fantastic conversations with ChatGPT, and I’ll say, ‘Oh that [lyric is] crap, that’s not what I would say.’ You can train it.”
He added, “And my manager last night was saying, ‘You know you’re talking to someone in China.’ I was like, I couldn’t care less. I said, it doesn’t matter… An artist like me, they try to force you to work in an old-fashioned way. I’m ahead of them.”

Of course, there are many dividing opinions surrounding the use of artificial intelligence. This is especially true in the creation of various forms of art. Because of this, many of his fans are reacting to his revelation, while others are simply happy to hear his voice.
One person said on YouTube, “George, I really love you, but AI is really bad for the environment.” Someone else addressed the host of the podcast, saying, “Also, Fearne? Let’s see how much of a bonus you would find living near a sprawling data center that doesn’t pay for its own water and electricity and instead puts it on your bill.”
The person continued, “Like, why is it so important and ‘modern’ to have this stuff replace our creativity, that it’s ok if people die from the delusions it helps them lean into? I find it SO sick and disheartening the way everyone around me
