Mamata Banerjee is in the fray from Bhabanipur seat, from where she won last year. Mamata had contested from both Bhabanipur and Nandigram in 2021. 

 The court reportedly granted bail after finding that the police had not properly informed her of the reasons for her arrest, which affected her defence. 

 Once voting concludes, attention will quickly shift to exit poll projections for West Bengal, as well as estimates for Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry. 

 The directive comes after recovery of crude bombs in the poll-bound state and reports of a minor blast.
