Tanur boat accident: Justice V K Mohanan Commission submits final report with safety recommendations 

 Govt had informed citizens about the launch of an advanced public alerting system on May 2, aimed at enabling timely communication during critical situations. 

 Trial emergency alerts were received on phones today. As people checked their phones, a message starting with the words ‘Extremely severe alert’ flashed. 

 SC said that the Election Commission’s circular on deploying central government staff as counting supervisors is “not contrary to rules,” 

 While it is not yet clear why the cases have been registered against the lawmaker, government sources said they have been filed under non-bailable sections.
